NARCRMS Message

November 11, 2024

Dear NARCRMS Contributors, Colleagues, Participants and other Stakeholders,

As you know, the North American Registry for Care and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (NARCRMS) has been a great resource for the MS community since the first participant was enrolled in May 2016. Since that time, NARCRMS has enrolled over 1,000 participants with MS across 27 sites in the US and Canada.

In April 2024, the NARCRMS Leadership and the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers (CMSC) began evaluating the status of financial commitments to NARCRMS, for the current year and beyond. After careful consideration, we subsequently and jointly agreed that, due to a lack of ongoing and consistent funding, NARCRMS would need to be permanently closed with all activities completed by October 31, 2024.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to NARCRMS, including the registry participants who generously shared their time and information about their health and experiences to help track the longitudinal history of MS over time. We also thank the investigators and coordinators at the sites who were consistently committed to NARCRMS, as well as the participants enrolled, and all the stakeholders who provided their time, funding and/or expertise to support the development and continuation of NARCRMS over the past eight years.

While NARCRMS is ending, we hope to make the data collected available to researchers in the future. We encourage you to visit the NARCRMS website (www.narcrms.org) in the coming months to learn how you may be able to access the data in the future. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact NARCRMS and the CMSC via email at NARCRMS@mscare.org.

We are truly grateful to everyone who contributed to this important and amazing endeavor. While NARCRMS may be ending, we hope that the data collected will continue to provide researchers with valuable information about the longitudinal history of MS for many years to come.

With our deepest gratitude,

The NARCRMS and CMSC Leaderships
